5. Do It Again
The nightclub, The Pigeon, off Ginza, has a circle dance floor and bandstand at one end, and is American big-band. Groups of guests sit or stand at the edge talking, snacking, smoking, watching the dancing and waiting to go out on the floor. Dancers are dates or dime-a-dance (a Tokyo dime). Clothing identifies them: the men wear tux and look like Japanese Freddies (Fred Astaires), the women wear Paris fashion each with fresh red rose pinned on top edge. To dance with one, a customer buys booklet of tickets then hands a ticket to chosen partner.

The gang’s all here at Olga’s arrival with Kimi and Tommy. The communist Harumi is in usual shapeless dress, blue beret tipped left, and Kimura is formally dressed in black tie and tails like diplomat.
“This government slogan ‘no more dancing’ is a diversion” says Harumi, “to back-page the pact with Hitler and Mussolini. The news picture of the fellow fascists makes me want to buy a gun. Somebody’s got to do something or that band of wicked wizards might just take the world.”
Kimura thinks General Tojo will be the new Sir Boss. Everyone knows the present Prime Minister Konoye is against the Three-Way Pact so its signing dooms Konoye as Prime Minister and, with Tojo top dog, a war with America is certain.
Watching Olga step up to the bandstand and turn to the audience, Kimi notes her radiance. Jet hair with Cleopatra brow-bang gives frame to Olga's face. Exquisitely painted, thin, heart-shaped, carmine-red lips and strapless low-slung evening gown shows sexy skin and bone, and artfully designed brassiere cups under the gown secrets her flat chest. And, below, the sequined silk-stockinged curvy legs seen through daring above-knee skirt give promise of gemmy, gammy goods between frontal thighs.

The Tokyo Jazz Trio riffs an intro and Olga steps before the microphone.
“Welcome to our show gals and guys; as of midnight dancin' dies!”
She turns to the Trio “OK, boys! Lyez have some swee’ music!” Then to the dance floor audience “C’mon kids! Lyez dance!”
Couples dance to tango, rumba, samba and bolero as well as lindy, foxtrot and waltz. It is certain that everyone will be given chance to dance to last curtain. Olga alternates between singing and coming down to dance with Harumi in an openly lesbian clutch. The lights above alternately brighten and dim, and on the darkened dance floor the sweeping multicolor spots illuminate dancing couples. Kimi will recall one romantic moment, arms about Tommy’s neck, breast nipples pressed to his chest, his hands grabbing firmly onto her, and the fronts of their bodies pressing as they dance with open lips touching. All this and Olga too, singing
Oh, do it again!
I may say Oh! Oh-Oh! Oh-Oh!
But do it again.
My ma may scole me
‘Cause she tole me,
It is naughty but then,
Do it – again!
You won’t regret it, c’mon—and get tit
*
Oh, no one is near!
I may say Oh! Oh-Oh! Oh-Oh---!
But no one will hear.
My lips just ache to have you take
The love that’s waiting for you
And if you do,
You’ll never forget it;
 C’mon and get tit
Oh! …

Later, in bed Kimi sings it softly in Tommy’s ear, lying in his embrace, the skin of her inner thighs tingling to feel the shape of things to come.
