5.6 Kimi's Sudden Shock

Slim Novel 5 - http://adventuresofkimi.blogspot.com - See Homepage

6. Another Swerve
Tommy says he is returning to USA. “Here’s how it is, dream doll! Got word! Can’t tell more! National security! Kimura will keep a protective eye on you. Nuthin’ more t’say; wish it could be t’other way.”

Next morning she stands quiet and still as he drives away. “New morning,” she says out loud, feeling strangely calm and adds: “Girl, are you hungry!” Her English is now OK but sounds pleasantly strange thanks to Tommy’s intense effort to give her a unique speech.
Walking back from street to the Pink House she contemplates that despite this (Or is it because of it?) she is feeling sehr gut, to use Tommy's German phrase for happy-happy.
Her counted blessings include a numbered account in Switzerland started for her by Tommy – which she is never to mention and cannot touch now because of the government’s obsessive interest in its citizens. Best of all is her health and youth. With such young experience and the input from Tommy and pals, combined with her intellectual hunger and newly forged sharpened mentality to satisfy the hunger, her future appears exciting, bright and long lasting.
Crazy wonderful adventure, comes to mind.
“New morning!” she repeats, going into the kitchen and making strong caffeine coffee which further enhances her euphoria.
After, to post office and monthly cash letter to Grandma. Always, Kimi keeps in touch with and assists her roots.

Later, relaxing in the reclining Morris chair listening to Enrico Caruso recording, she hears the doorbell tinkle and a familiar “Yoo-hoo” tells her who.
